In this Volume 3.3. "Microcycle, Session and Tasks for a Training Process" means the aspects related to the practical development of training, so it is especially aimed at the tasks of the coach/specialist technician.

In football, the micro-cycle is the "unit of time" in which the different aspects and resources that we have to achieve/ keep the team in the optimal state that allows it to achieve the objectives envisaged in the competition are developed. However, in a formative process, the objectives are longer-term, and even if there is every weekend the competition match the sporting results will come as a result of the training work carried out and not as the specific objective of this work. Therefore, the activities carried out each week do not have a unique competitive purpose, but are looking for medium-term benefits/results (cycle), which in turn will interact with those who are sought in the long term (stages), thus achieving the expected formative objective at the end of the process.

In this way, in a training process, we understand the micro-cycle as the space of time in which all the objectives that are raised from the different areas necessary for the training of the player will be developed; that is, in each micro-cycle the player will experience in training and competition all the activities of each of the areas that affect the training, with the objectives that are planned in the planning:

  • Collective Actions (Universal Foundations).
  • The technique.
  • Tactics.
  • Goalkeeper Training.
  • Physical Preparation.
  • The Competition (Collective Situations/Team Management).
  • The Psychological aspects.
  • The Medical aspects.

We will therefore plant a programming that we consider basic, which will be valid in most cases, and that will be important as an example/reference so that the coach, based on this information, can design "his own" programming (in which he must take into account the characteristics and variables presented by his team, as well as his own "proposals" on each of the aspects).
