Action composed of individual and/or collective evolutions, which are carried out in a short space of time in a usually unforeseen way (although actions must be established and foreseen strategically) when the defending team recovers the ball, keeping it in play.

The priority objective is to gain control of the ball to:

  • Perform a quick attack.
  • Perform a counterattack.
  • Initiate a control attack (positional/associative).

The immediate action to be taken by the player recovering the ball will be related to:

  • The area in which it recovers (we can and must establish certain recovery zones so that we can design and train the options/actions that will allow us to achieve the intended goal).
  • The spaces that manifest between him and the opposing goal, number of opponents.
  • The support(s) you receive from colleagues in D.O. or those who are most late and free of marking.
  • If the recovering player cannot directly initiate a quick attack or counterattack, he or she can secure the ball by playing it to the free teammate outside the recovery zone (directly or indirectly), and then be able to initiate a control attack (positional/associative).
