P.3.4.3 System Features

It is the most effective and coherent system when the opposite plays with one or two points, since we will continue to maintain numerical superiority in LD, the balance of men in relation to the opposite in the LM, and a clear offensive arrangement in the LA.

The defensive risk caused in our defensive zone as there are greater spaces, we must compensate, in the composition of the LM with very fast and safe players in defense, and with the effective incorporation to the defensive zone, especially of the two flyers.

For this reason, this system is effective when we use collective pressure defensively, as this allows us to reduce spaces for both the media and the opposing LA.

We can consider this system as the one with the most offensive options, but also the one with the most defensive risks.

Therefore, the coach's analysis will be decisive for its implementation in relation to:

  • The defensive characteristics of the midfielders (especially the steering wheel).
  • Security and speed in defense manifested by the LD.
  • The technical and physical characteristics of the opposite.
  • The dimensions of the pitch.
  • The effectiveness and mobility of the three forwards-performing an intense/collective pressure in the opposite field in sub-Phase 2.

It is probably the most suitable system to perform the game directly or short for long.

Drawing the P.3.4.3 System

Offensive variants:

If we determine a P.3.4.3 as a base system, we will hardly use offensive variants, as playing with three defenses is "complicated" to overtake a medium, and it frustrates the overtaking of a defense. However, we can modify the defensive location and therefore the offensive arrangement of the lines/team when recovering the ball.

In any case we can overtake a medium in the midpoint position. (P.3.3.1.3), or incorporate players into the "flying" position with more offensive potential (extreme features).

Defensive variants:

  • We incorporate a medium into the LD (P.4.3.3).
  • We place a medium between the LD and the LM (P.3.1.3.3).
  • Incorporate an attacker into the LM and a media into the LD (P.4.4.2).
  • Place a front between the LA and the LM (P.3.4.1.2).
