We call the general aspects that each coach determines for the operation of their team, both globally and individually and in relation to offensive and defensive play, with the aim of beating the opposing team in the competition.

This is the first element to be defined by the coach, since all the training will be conditioned by this aspect. We therefore understand that this task was performed only in it:

  • High Performance Process in Football (End of Process).
  • Maximum Performance Process, Since in the Formative process the Competition will be held as a specific improvement session in which players must experience all possible variants, for a correct and extensive training (detailed aspects in the Modules "structure"... Training, ARF and Maximum Performance Processes).

KNOWLEDGE OF THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE OWN TEAM AND OF THE GENERAL FORMS OF GAME THAT ARE MANIFESTED IN THE CATEGORY TO COMPETITION.

Knowledge of the characteristics of the equipment:

  • Global characteristic of the equipment:
    • Disciplined / Tactical.
    • Creative.
    • Technical.
    • Combative-aggressive.
  • Characteristics of each team line (in attack and defense):
    • LD.
    • LM.
    • LA.
  • Characteristics and individual incidents of the players (in the sports-personal-family-volitional sphere ... etc.):
    • Skilled / technical.
    • Fighter (lane-physical).
    • Marker.
    • Disciplined.
    • Polyvalent.
    • Specialist: Fast / area player / organizer / head game.
    • Family and social aspects, attitudes ...
  • Performance level of each player:
    • Collective Play.
    • Technique.
    • Tactic.
    • Condition / physical characteristics.
    • Psychological characteristics.
    • Experiences of your sporting activity.
  • Final planned objectives:
    • Determine final goals to achieve.
    • Classification, type of game to develop, ...

General aspects of the category's game features:

  • Most used game systems.
  • Most used game styles.
  • General levels of play.
  • General levels and basic characteristics of the player in this category.
  • Play structures:
    • Fields (dimensions, surface, state, ...).
    • Public (typology and incidents).
    • Arbitrations (levels and incidents).
    • ...

THE GAME SYSTEM.

Once the characteristics of the players and the team have been determined, and the forms of play of the category have been analyzed, we must determine the position of the players on the field during the offensive game (the Game System) and its variants (team structure) :

  • P.4-4-2
  • P.4-3-3
  • P.3-4-3
  • ...

We will also establish objectives and forms for the three sub-phases of offensive play for the short / associative style of play:

  • START sub-phase.
  • PROGRESSION sub-phase.
  • Sub-phase FINISHING.

GAME STYLES AND THEIR VARIANTS:

Short game (associative / positional)

  • Control of the game / keeping the ball.
  • Maintaining possession of the ball for relatively long periods of time.
  • Need for players with a technical and tactical level appropriate to the category ”.

Game long / deep.

  • "Long" movements of the ball.
  • Direct search of the definition area.
  • Start of the offensive game with goal kick or long goal kick.
  • Frequent losses of the ball (in the opposite field).
  • Use of specialists:
    • Launchers (in the starting area).
    • Players with the ability to control and protect high balls in the progression zone.
    • Tips with great speed and good individual play.
  • Very fast attack actions, carried out with few touches, with a great sense of depth, whether or not they end with a shot.
    • We will use this style of play basically as a resource in relation to:
    • The characteristics of the team's players.
    • The type of opposition of the opponent, that forces us to this type of game (he performs his defensive game by advancing all his lines, eliminating the spaces and the starting and progression game areas.
    • The characteristics and dimensions of the pitch.
    • The search for effectiveness over training, based on the fact that:
      • The loss of the ball will occur, in the worst case, in the opposite field.
      • The ball is placed quickly and continuously in the finishing zone (despite the fact that it involves a high percentage of turnover in this zone).
      • The greater facility to specify the physical capacities to improve, according to each demarcation.
      • We can take advantage of the large spaces that are manifested behind the opposite LD.

Play in medium length.

  • The goalkeeper's serve will seek the Numerical Superiority of our midfield line (midfield, interior or pivot). This option is possible when the opponent balances the number of players in his attack line with our LD, keeping S / N in his LD, which necessarily causes our S / N in our LM.

Game with Orientation Changes (From short to long).

  • In this fourth style, characteristic aspects of the short and deep playing styles are manifested, combining short actions with “controlled” long movements (basically diagonally), to take advantage of the free spaces created in the areas opposite to the location. of the ball).
    • The long displacements are made after having kept the game short in a zone, which produces an accumulation of defenses in the same. In the event that this accumulation does not occur, progress will be made with the ball, maintaining the same orientation of the game.
    • Diagonal movements will be made from the starting and progression zones of the offensive game, depending on the type of opposition presented to the opponent.
    • The men in front of the ball will make their movements towards the areas perpendicular to where it is. The men located at the height of the ball, and in opposite areas to it, will carry out their movements in depth ”.
  • We will use this style as a resource when the opposing team overtakes their LD, eliminating our progression zones, but leaving us spaces for the starting sub-phase.

FUNDAMENTALS / MOVEMENTS OF THE GAME SYSTEM.

  • Once the game system has been specified, and if we rely on the short game style, we will establish the movements of the system:
  • They are those positions / movements of all the players in each of the SJ that are manifested in ATTACK AND IN DEFENSE, with the aim that, in attack, the possessor has the necessary supports appearing in the space that allow guaranteeing no loss ball, progression and efficient completion.
  • We will use the movements of the system, as a resource, to replace the ignorance on the part of the players of the UNIVERSAL FOUNDATIONS.
  • In the design of the Fundamentals / Movements of the established game System and its variants, we will take into account the objectives to be manifested in each SJ in the OFFENSIVE PHASE:
    • Offer the owner 4/5 game options, appearing in space:
      • Room to progress.
      • Support in vertical / diagonal depth.
      • Orientation changes horizontally.
      • Backward safety game.
    • Ensure NO loss of the ball, whatever the action of the opposition in the START and PROGRESS sub-phases.
    • Maintain (not contradict) the objectives established in the universal FUNDAMENTALS (instructions).

STRATEGIES:

  • We will design, finally, for our offensive game, also affecting the defensive, the aspects to train in the field of strategies:
    • the counterattack - fast attack.
    • The styles: The direct game, from short to long:
    • in attack (to use) and in defense (to counteract).
    • The attack / defense - defense / attack transition.
    • Set pieces actions (in defense and attack).

DEFENSIVE GAME AND ITS VARIANTS.

"The possibilities of defensive play are established according to:

  • The attack / defense transition.
  • The defensive structure.
  • The characteristics of the retraction:
    • Intensive over a certain area regardless of the location of the ball).
    • Middle (between the middle line of both fields).
    • Advance (reduction of spaces).
    • By lines (according to the position of the ball).
  • The marking of each player, by lines and group:
    • Zones
    • Individual
    • Mixed
    • Pressure
    • Combined
    • "Smart" marking.
  • The offensive disposition in the defensive game: position and offensive predisposition of the player when he is overcome by the ball and they do not participate in the defensive action.
  • The 4 defensive sub-phases: Characteristics, objectives and forms.
  • Defense / attack transition.

VARIANTS OF THE FORM OF GAME:

It is necessary to design possible variants of the established game form, due to the influence of the following factors:

  • In preseason:
    • The global characteristics (positive and negative) of our players, in attack and defense.
  • In Season (in each "micro-cycle"):
    • Specific characteristics of the opposing team.
    • Different lineups of the team itself.
    • Different objectives in relation to the final result.
    • Type of match at home or away (environment-environment-referee).
    • Classification, pitch, weather, ...

The possible offensive and defensive variants of the established Forms of Game will be specified in relation to:

  • The game system to be used (in relation to the result, the type of opposition, to provoke a change of attitude in the team, etc.).

The team must master the system changes from one Competition unit to another, so that we can surprise the opposition and get a positive reaction from the team. This transformation must manifest itself quickly and effectively, so we must train it as a goal of our game.

  • The basic style of play and its variants -play styles in long / deep, in mid length, and from Short to Long- (in defense -counter-, and in attack -use-).
  • We must accustom the team to modify the style of play from one competition unit to another, to adapt collectively to the type of opposition presented by the opposing team.
  • Our goalkeeper will decide how to start our game so that the team responds collectively in a natural and effective way.
  • The objectives and forms for the 3 offensive sub-phases of the short style of play.
  • The defensive structure to develop.
  • The Defensive Forms for each line / demarcation for each of the 4 defensive sub-phases.
  • The possible rotations of the squad, and how they will affect the planning carried out (variations in relation to the characteristics of the “changed” players).
  • The movements of the Game System and its variants in relation to the specific characteristics (positive and / or negative) of the player and those necessary to adapt to the opposing team in the competition.
  • The MSJ assimilation process for the team and for each player.
  • The General Forms of how to use the fast counter / attack.
  • Attack-defense and defense-attack transitions.
  • Set pieces in attack and defense.
  • What is established jointly with the rest of the specialists (objectives of the different areas -P. Physics, Medicine, psychology, goalkeepers, scouting,… -).
